Answer 5
There is no simple answer here. The point is to consider
such fundamental questions as
- What is the purpose of health care (to make money or
provide for the health of the population)?
- Who should make such decisions?
- Is health care a right or a privilege?
- Should criteria for health-care decisions be based on
the ability to pay (either higher insurance premiums or
additional patient costs)?
Health care decisions are seldom made in a vacuum, but it
is these very real sorts of economic, social and
humanitarian considerations that health care professionals
must increasingly face today.
