Note: During our initial work in 2004, we believed that we were analyzing clones from Drosophila littoralis, a species closely related to D.virilis. However, we have subsequently learned that a mistake was made in the Drosophila Genome Project, and the library we are working with is from a strain of Drosophila virilis. We have corrected this in the course outline, but the student reports provided here will refer consistently to Drosophila littoralis as the species under study.
